Note on And I Feel Your Love

From the Composer

This is a beautiful psalm which contrasts mortality and spiritual fulfillment. I tried to approach the music thinking about how Paul McCartney would approach it if he were the composer.

example 1: opening of And I Feel YOur Love from St. Stephen's Psalter

-Peter Margen

From the Arranger

All of us on retreat took this psalm to heart when the psalmist read it to us. Peter took it apart and put it back together. His verses, supported by a stark, lean accompaniment, provide the narrative of the psalm, while his refrain emphasizes our connection to God. The first time I heard Peter’s setting, the choral parts on the refrain pretty much wrote themselves.

example 2: chorus from And I Feel Your Love from St Stephen's Psalter

-Robert Train Adams
